A Hepatopancreaticobiliary (HPB) Surgery Fellowship is a highly specialized program designed for doctors seeking to enhance their expertise in the surgical management of complex hepatic, pancreatic, and biliary disorders. This fellowship focuses on advanced techniques in HPB surgery, including liver resection, pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple procedure), and biliary reconstruction.
During the fellowship, fellows will work closely with experienced HPB surgeons to refine their surgical skills and gain a deep understanding of the complexities of HPB surgery. Through clinical rotations, didactic lectures, and hands-on surgical experience, fellows will learn how to diagnose and manage a wide range of HPB conditions, including hepatocellular carcinoma, pancreatic cancer, and bile duct injuries.
Fellows will also have the opportunity to participate in research projects aimed at advancing the field of HPB surgery, with access to cutting-edge technology and resources. By the end of the fellowship, fellows will be equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to provide high-quality, compassionate care to patients with complex HPB disorders.
Upon completion of the Hepatopancreaticobiliary Surgery Fellowship, doctors will be well-prepared to pursue a career as an HPB surgeon, with expertise in the latest surgical techniques and approaches. They will be able to provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary care to patients with HPB disorders, and will have the foundation to pursue further specialization in areas such as liver transplantation, advanced laparoscopic HPB surgery, or interventional endoscopy.
