Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) for Brain Metabolism

A two-day, simulation-based program at ADN CoE focused on brain metabolite analysis and clinical interpretation of MR spectroscopy data.

Training Overview

Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) for Brain Metabolism Training is an advanced, simulation-based educational program designed for neuroradiologists, neurologists, neuroscientists, and imaging specialists aiming to master the principles and clinical applications of brain MRS. This two-day intensive training at ADN CoE provides an in-depth understanding of neurochemical profiling, metabolic mapping, and interpretation of single-voxel and multi-voxel spectroscopy data.

The program begins with a foundational review of MR physics relevant to spectroscopy, followed by interactive sessions on metabolite quantification, voxel placement, and acquisition protocols using PRESS and STEAM sequences. Participants will gain hands-on experience in data acquisition and post-processing on simulation software that replicates clinical scanner environments.

Through simulation-based case studies, attendees will interpret metabolic patterns associated with tumors, demyelinating diseases, epilepsy, and neurodegenerative disorders. Advanced modules explore quantitative analysis methods, LCModel fitting, and integration of MRS with MRI, fMRI, and PET data for comprehensive brain metabolism evaluation.

Expert-led workshops will cover artifact reduction, spectral quality optimization, and multi-parametric interpretation for clinical and research applications. Participants will also engage in group case discussions involving anonymized datasets to enhance clinical decision-making and diagnostic accuracy.

By the end of the program, attendees will possess the analytical and technical expertise to acquire, process, and interpret brain MRS data with precision—empowering them to apply metabolic imaging in both clinical diagnostics and translational research.
