Functional & Molecular Imaging in Oncology

A two-day, simulation-based program at ADN CoE focusing on functional and molecular imaging in oncology.

Training Overview

Functional & Molecular Imaging in Oncology is an advanced, simulation-enhanced training program designed for radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians, oncologists, medical physicists, and imaging specialists seeking comprehensive expertise in functional and molecular imaging techniques for cancer diagnosis, staging, and treatment assessment. This two-day course integrates structured theoretical education with hands-on imaging simulations and multidisciplinary case discussions, emphasizing biologic tumor characterization, therapy response evaluation, and precision oncology decision-making.

The program begins with foundational modules covering principles of functional and molecular imaging, radiotracer biology, hybrid imaging systems (PET/CT, PET/MRI, SPECT/CT), quantitative imaging parameters, and standardized imaging protocols in oncology. Participants review imaging biomarkers, tumor metabolism, receptor imaging, and tracer selection across different cancer types.

Hands-on simulation sessions enable participants to work with real oncologic imaging datasets, practicing image acquisition review, quantitative analysis, standardized uptake value interpretation, and response assessment under expert supervision. Attendees gain experience integrating functional imaging findings into clinical reports and multidisciplinary treatment planning.

Through interactive video cases, scenario-based learning, and tumor board–style discussions, participants analyze real-world oncology cases to improve lesion detection, disease staging, therapy monitoring, and follow-up strategies. Structured feedback enhances diagnostic accuracy, reporting clarity, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

By the end of the program, participants will have developed advanced competency in applying functional and molecular imaging techniques to oncologic care, improving diagnostic confidence, treatment guidance, and personalized patient management.
