Focal Therapy in Prostate Cancer: Robotic HIFU Training
An intensive seven-day training focused on robotic HIFU–based focal therapy, combining theoretical education, dry lab tissue-based practice, and live surgical experience.

Training Overview
Focal Therapy in Prostate Cancer: Robotic HIFU Training is an advanced surgical education program designed for urologists, urologic oncologists, and robotic surgery teams seeking to develop comprehensive expertise in focal treatment strategies for localized prostate cancer using robot-assisted High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU). This seven-day course integrates structured theoretical learning with progressive hands-on training and live surgical observation to ensure a thorough understanding of robotic HIFU technology and clinical application.
The program begins with foundational sessions covering prostate cancer biology, patient selection criteria for focal therapy, multiparametric MRI interpretation, targeted biopsy correlation, and oncologic principles underlying focal ablation. Participants are guided through step-by-step treatment workflows, including robotic HIFU system setup, treatment planning, lesion targeting, energy delivery parameters, and real-time treatment monitoring strategies.
During the dry lab sessions, attendees engage in tissue-based training exercises using tissue-mimicking models to develop precision, depth awareness, and controlled energy application. These exercises focus on improving instrument handling, movement accuracy, and safe energy modulation prior to clinical exposure.
In the clinical phase of the training, participants observe live robotic HIFU procedures performed by expert faculty. Live surgical sessions provide direct insight into procedural strategy, intraoperative decision-making, workflow optimization, and complication avoidance techniques.
The course also emphasizes complication prevention, intraoperative troubleshooting, and optimization of oncologic and functional outcomes. Faculty-led discussions address perioperative workflow, postoperative follow-up protocols, PSA kinetics, imaging surveillance, and retreatment strategies following robotic focal HIFU therapy.
By the end of the training, participants will have achieved enhanced clinical understanding, procedural confidence, and practical insight into delivering robot-assisted focal HIFU therapy in appropriately selected prostate cancer patients.
