Advanced Imaging in Interventional Radiology

A two-day, simulation-based program at ADN CoE focused on practical advanced imaging, multi-modality navigation, and procedural decision-making in interventional radiology settings.

Training Overview

Advanced Imaging in Interventional Radiology Training is a focused, simulation-based educational program designed to strengthen clinical decision-making and technical proficiency in modern image-guided interventions. This two-day training combines core imaging physics, case-based learning, and high-fidelity simulations to support safe, precise, and effective navigation in complex patient profiles.

The program begins with essential modules on multi-modality imaging acquisition, artifact reduction, and the interpretation of intraprocedural 3D datasets. Participants review Cone-Beam CT (CBCT) optimization, contrast media tracking, and gain a structured approach to integrating pre-procedural MRI/CT scans with live fluoroscopy in daily practice.

Simulation-based sessions focus on advanced vessel roadmapping, fusion imaging alignment, and real-time needle or catheter tracking. Hands-on software workshops cover dosimetry management, radiation safety protocols, and ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) compliant imaging configurations.

Advanced case discussions address complex imaging scenarios in high-risk patients, including those with severe obesity, renal impairment requiring low-contrast protocols, and motion-heavy respiratory environments. Integrated simulations emphasize troubleshooting registration errors, optimizing target visualization, and mitigating artifacts in life-threatening or challenging clinical conditions.

By the end of the program, participants will be able to confidently utilize, optimize, and interpret advanced imaging modalities to enhance procedural success and patient safety in interventional radiology care.
