Training Overview

The Advanced HoLEP & ThuLEP Masterclass is an intensive, case-based clinical training program designed for urologists, endourologists, surgical fellows, and residents seeking advanced exposure to laser enucleation of the prostate.

Unlike simulation-based courses, this program is centered on real clinical cases and live surgical case observation. Participants follow HoLEP and ThuLEP procedures in the operating room and analyze each stage of the intervention together with experienced faculty, from patient selection and preoperative planning through enucleation, hemostasis, morcellation, and postoperative management.

The scientific component begins with a focused review of prostatic anatomy, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), patient selection, laser-tissue interaction, Ho:YAG and thulium laser principles, instrumentation, and operative strategy. Particular attention is given to identifying the correct surgical capsule, establishing and maintaining the enucleation plane, controlling bleeding, protecting the ureteric orifices and external sphincter, and optimizing morcellation.

During live case observation, participants observe the complete procedural workflow in real patients. Faculty explain operative decision-making throughout the cases, including technique selection, anatomical landmarks, management of difficult planes, large adenomas, bleeding control, apical dissection, sphincter preservation, and troubleshooting during morcellation.

Case selection may include patients with different prostate volumes, anatomical characteristics, previous interventions, anticoagulation considerations, urinary retention, or technically challenging BPH presentations, depending on the clinical cases available during the training dates.

A major component of the course is dedicated to complication prevention and management, including capsular perforation, bleeding, difficult enucleation planes, mucosal injury, morcellation-related complications, postoperative urinary retention, transient urinary incontinence, urethral complications, and infection.

Faculty-led case discussions also address perioperative protocols, catheter management, postoperative recovery, continence preservation, discharge criteria, follow-up, functional outcomes, and strategies for developing an efficient HoLEP/ThuLEP clinical workflow.

By the end of the program, participants will have gained a structured understanding of advanced HoLEP and ThuLEP techniques through direct observation of real surgical cases, faculty-guided procedural analysis, and case-based clinical discussion.

Live Surgical Case Observation

Observe HoLEP and ThuLEP procedures performed on real patients and follow the complete operative workflow.

Patient Selection & Preoperative Planning Review indications, prostate size and anatomy, LUTS/BPH assessment, imaging, anticoagulation considerations and procedural planning.

Laser Enucleation Strategy Understand different enucleation approaches and learn how faculty select an operative strategy according to prostate anatomy and case complexity.

Important Information Regarding Live Cases

This Masterclass is based on real patient procedures and live surgical case observation. Therefore, the exact number, type, sequence and timing of procedures depend on patient eligibility, patient consent, clinical indications, hospital operating room schedules and faculty availability.

Patient safety and clinical necessity always take priority over the educational schedule. For this reason, the operative program may be modified when medically or operationally necessary.

The program is observational unless otherwise specifically authorized by the relevant hospital and permitted under applicable regulations.

Important Travel Notice – Changeable Tickets Strongly Recommended

Because this Masterclass depends on scheduled live clinical cases, course dates may occasionally need to be adjusted due to changes in patient status, clinical indications, hospital operating room schedules, emergency cases or faculty availability.

International participants are therefore strongly advised to purchase refundable, flexible or changeable airline tickets and accommodation whenever possible.

Participants should avoid purchasing non-refundable or non-changeable travel arrangements.

ADN CoE does not determine airline fare conditions and cannot be responsible for airline price differences, rebooking charges, cancellation penalties or other travel expenses resulting from independently purchased flights or accommodation.

Participants will be informed as early as reasonably possible if a clinically necessary schedule change occurs.

Transfer Services

Participants using ADN CoE accommodation and transfer services should follow the confirmed pick-up and drop-off schedule communicated before the program.

International Participants

Participants are responsible for ensuring that their passport and visa are valid for travel. Requests for invitation letters or supporting documentation should be submitted to trainings@adncoe.com preferably at least four weeks before the anticipated program date.

Participants should not make inflexible international travel arrangements until they have reviewed the applicable course and travel conditions.

Attire

Professional or business-casual attire is recommended. Participants entering clinical or operating room environments must comply with hospital-specific clothing, hygiene and infection-control requirements. Surgical scrubs and/or protective equipment will be provided or arranged where required by the host institution.

Health & Safety

All participants must comply with the safety, infection-control, confidentiality and operating room protocols of the clinical training venue.

Transfer of Registration

Participants may request to transfer their registration to another eligible individual from the same institution with prior written approval from ADN CoE. Requests should normally be submitted at least 10 days before the scheduled training date.

Course Date Changes, Postponement or Cancellation

Because the educational program incorporates real clinical procedures, ADN CoE reserves the right to modify the schedule, postpone the program or change the training dates when necessary due to patient-related circumstances, hospital scheduling, faculty availability or other circumstances outside reasonable operational control.

Where a program is cancelled by ADN CoE rather than rescheduled, participants will be offered the applicable refund or transfer options according to the ADN CoE registration and payment policy.

Non-Transferable Fees

Course fees may not be transferred to another course, program or service unless expressly approved in writing by ADN CoE.

Faculty members and proctors are required to disclose relevant financial or commercial relationships in accordance with applicable educational standards. Educational decisions and clinical discussions remain independent of commercial interests.

Content Independence

The scientific curriculum is developed according to current clinical evidence, accepted procedural principles and faculty expertise. Participation in the program does not constitute product endorsement, and educational content is not designed as commercial promotion.

Evaluation and Feedback

Participants will be invited to complete a course evaluation and knowledge assessment following the program. Feedback is used to continuously improve the scientific and clinical training experience.

Quality Assurance

Course content is periodically reviewed and updated to reflect developments in laser technology, BPH management, HoLEP/ThuLEP techniques and contemporary clinical practice.

Sponsorship Transparency

Where commercial sponsorship or educational support exists, relevant disclosures will be communicated appropriately. Sponsors do not determine individual patient treatment or independently control the scientific curriculum.
