Celebrating Women in Cardiology: Highlights from ADN CoE's International Women's Day Webinar

The webinar brought together leading women cardiologists from around the world to share their experiences, knowledge and challenges in the field of cardiology.

We are excited to share with you the highlights of the Women in Cardiology webinar organized by ADN CoE company in honor of International Women's Day. The event brought together leading women cardiologists from around the world to share their experiences, knowledge and challenges in the field of cardiology.
The webinar began with a keynote speech by the general manager of the company; Ms Nazire Çavuş who was hosting the event. She spoke passionately about the need for gender equity in all fields where women are still vastly underrepresented. She emphasized the importance cherishing women all over the world for their achievements and strength shown day by day in many sides of life, she as a woman leader highlighted also the necessity of mentorship and support for young women interested in pursuing careers in different fields and jobs.
The panel discussion that followed featured seven women cardiologists from different parts of the world. Prof. Dr. Alev Arat Özkan from Türkiye shared her experience and knowledge about Female Patients in Cath Lab topic. Prof. Dr. Angela Maas from Netherlands spoke about the topic of INOCA and Vasomotor Disorders in Female Patients. While Prof. Dr. Beatriz Vaquerizo from Spain took the part of CTO in Female Patients.
Prof. Dr. Nihan Turhan Çağlar from Türkiye discussed the topic of Hypertension in women and its challenges when Prof. Dr. Meral Kayıkçıoğlu, another inspiring cardiologist from Türkiye talked about Primary and Secondary Prevention in Female Patients. Cardiac Imaging part was taken by Dr. Anam Waheed a cardiologist from USA While the last topic was presented by Prof. Dr. Lale Tokgözoğlu from Türkiye who held the talk about What is different in Ascvd in women and do the guidelines reflect this.
The panelists while sharing their thoughts on different topics related to cardiology; a field which was known to be leaded most by the male gender they highlighted in a certain way the thought of overcoming gender bias in this field and how to promote greater representation of women in leadership positions. They emphasized also the importance of creating supportive networks, building confidence and resilience, and challenging stereotypes and biases.
The webinar was well-received by the attendees, who appreciated the insights and perspectives shared by the panelists.
In conclusion, the Women in Cardiology webinar organized by ADN CoE was a wonderful celebration of the contributions and achievements of women in the field of cardiology, by amplifying their voices in this field, we can inspire the next generation of female cardiologists and help to close the gender gap in this field, ultimately leading to better outcomes for patients and a stronger healthcare system.
Let's keep celebrating and promoting the achievements of women in STEM to create a more diverse, equitable, and innovative future for all, not just on International Women's Day, but year-round because when we lift up women, we lift up everyone.
