Prof. Dr. Yakup Kordan is the Head of Department of Urology at Koç University School of Medicine.
EDUCATION
He graduated from Hacettepe University School of Medicine in 1996 and completed his urology specialization training Gazi University.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
He worked as a consultant doctor and then as an associated professor doctor at Uludağ University School of Medicine. He started to work as an associated professor doctor at Koç University School of Medicine and currently continues as a professor doctor and head of department of urology.
MEMBERSHIPS
Member of Minimally Invasive Urological Surgery Association (General Secretary), Urological Surgery Association, Urooncology Surgery Association, European Urology Association and American Urology Association.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Between 2008 and 2009, he worked in the field of urooncology at Vanderbilt University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Urology, USA. He received the title of associate professor in 2011 and professor in 2019. Since 2003, he worked in the kidney transplant team at Uludağ University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Urology and performed kidney transplant surgeries.
In 2004, he won the third prize in the 7th Mediterranean Video-Endoscopic Urology Course with International Participation. In 2007, he received the 'Best Poster Award' at the 22nd European Association of Urology Congress in Germany. He received the 'Best Video Award' at the 1st National Urological Surgery Congress in 2002 and the 'Best Poster Presentation Award' for his work presented at the 11th Urooncology Congress in 2013.

Complications & Management of Abdominal Laparoscopic Surgery Course
Basic knowledge on laparoscopy will be presented. Training on laparoscopic and suturing skills will be given including depth perception, dexterity, instrument handling and pattern cutting. Course content will follow European Basic Laparoscopic Urological Skills (E-BLUS) training program. How to choose instruments, air insufflations and access will be explained. Preventing, recognising and management of complications will be discussed. Hands-on training on porcine models under anaesthesia will be offered depending on the specialty including urology, general surgery and gynecology. Laparoscopic surgical management of bowel injury, ureteral injury, minor and major vascular injury, parenchymal organs (spleen and liver) will be shown.

Robotic NVB Sparing Radical Prostatectomy, Extended Pelvic Lymph Node Dissection &Robotic Radical Cystectomy with Intracorporeal IlealLoop Formation Human Fresh Frozen Cadaver Course
Introducing components of Da Vinci surgical robotic system, lectures and video presentations on robotic radical prostatectomy with NVB sparing and extended pelvic LN dissection, practicing with Da Vinci robotic simulators and performing robotic radical prostatectomy with NVB sparing and extended pelvic LN dissection on human fresh frozen cadavers. Trainees will also perform robotic cystectomy with intracorporeal ileal loop formation. This course is not for beginners and having some previous robotic surgery experience is suggested.
