Prof. Dr. Meral Kayikcıoglu
She was born in 1970. She studied in Bornova Anatolian High School in 1988 then she made her medical sturdies in Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 1995. She completed her cardiology residency at Ege University in 1999. She received the title of associate professor in 2004 and professor in 2011. Currently she is still working as a general cardiologist in the Department of Cardiology at Ege University Faculty of Medicine.
Research areas
Prevention from cardiovascular diseases are myocardial infarction (heart attacks),
Familial hypercholesterolemia,
Hereditary (hereditary) thrombophilias,
Lipid disorders,
Cardiovascular disorders in hemodialysis patients,
Echocardiography and pulmonary hypertension (pulmonary hypertension).
She was at the pulmonary hypertension center in the USA (San Diego) in 2004 and has been working as a lipid outpatient clinic at the Faculty of Medicine of Ege University for twenty years, she has also been working at the pulmonary hypertension outpatient clinic since 2004.
Achievements:
She served as the National Coordinator in the project of the European Society of Cardiology for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases between 2009 and 2014.
She was assigned as a researcher by the Turkish Society of Cardiology in the “Red Alert for Women's Hearts” project led by the European Society of Cardiology, and she still works in the Women's Heart Health Group, which was established in 2009 for this purpose.
Founded in 2013.
She is a founding member of the 'Woman's Hand to the Heart' platform. She is actively involved in this project that aims to raise awareness of women's heart health.
