Prof. Dr. Beatriz Vaquerizo Montilla

Prof. Dr. Beatriz Vaquerizo Montilla obtained a degree in Medicine and Surgery in 1998 from the University of Barcelona. She completed her residency in Cardiology at the Peset University Hospital in Valencia (2000-2005) and she has been a specialist in Cardiology since 2005. Between 2000 and 2004 she completed doctoral courses at the University of Valencia. That same year she obtained the scholarship award for the best research project from the Valencian Heart Institute and the Valencian Society of Cardiology Insvacor to develop her doctoral thesis. In 2007 she received her PhD from the University of Valencia with magna cum laude distinction.

In 2006, she obtained a fellowship from the Hemodynamics section of the Society of Cardiology and was appointed to the fellowship in Cardiac Interventionism at the Institut Cardiovascular Paris Sud (ICPS) under the supervision of Dr. Marie-Claude Morice and Dr. Thierry Lefevre (2006-2007). Since 2007 she has been working as an interventional cardiologist at the Hospital del Mar in Barcelona. In 2009 she obtained the prize of the Spanish Society of Cardiology for the best article derived from a research grant for her research work on cardiac interventionism (Paris).

Her main areas of research interest are interventional cardiology and intracoronary imaging techniques, ischemic heart disease, and coronary arteriosclerosis.

To date, she is the author of more than 87 scientific contributions among national and international journals, presentations and abstracts in congresses, and book chapters.

Since 2009 and 2010 respectively, she has been part of the Scientific Committee of the Spanish Society of Cardiology and the Catalan Society of Cardiology as an abstract reviewer.

She is a member of the Spanish Society of Cardiology, the Catalan Society of Cardiology and an associate member of the American Society of Cardiac Interventionism (SCAi International Membership).
