Fellowships

Structural Heart

A Structural Heart Fellowship is a specialized program designed for doctors who wish to advance their knowledge and expertise in the field of interventional cardiology, with a particular focus on transcatheter therapies for structural heart disease. During the fellowship, doctors will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and imaging specialists to refine their skills in patient selection, procedural planning, and execution of structural interventions.

Through a combination of hands-on training, advanced imaging workshops, didactic lectures, and research opportunities, fellows will gain expertise in cutting-edge procedures such as transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), transcatheter mitral valve repair and replacement (MitraClip, TMVR), left atrial appendage closure (LAAC), and tricuspid/pulmonary valve interventions. Fellows will learn how to perform these technically demanding procedures, manage complications, and optimize patient outcomes through collaboration within multidisciplinary Heart Teams.

During the fellowship, doctors will also participate in structural heart case discussions, advanced imaging sessions using echocardiography, CT, and MRI, and simulation-based training in device deployment. They will develop the ability to create tailored treatment plans that integrate procedural expertise with patient-centered decision-making.

At the completion of the Structural Heart Fellowship, doctors will be well-prepared to pursue a career in interventional cardiology with a specialized focus on structural heart disease. They will be trained to deliver innovative, minimally invasive therapies for patients with complex cardiac conditions, contribute to advancing the field through clinical research, and lead Heart Teams in the management of structural heart interventions.
