Prof. Dr. Yaşar Özgök is a urologist who is the secretary of Turkish Board of Urology and he is a lecturer at University of Health Sciences.
EDUCATION
He started his residency at GATA Urology Department in 1985. He became a urologist in 1989. He passed the exam for assistant professorship in 1990 and was appointed as an assistant professor to GATA Urology Department.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
He worked as the head of Urology Department at Gata and Prof. Dr. at Yüksek İhtisas University. He is also the head of International Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery Association.
ACHIEVEMENTS
He received the title of associate professor on 19 October 1994. He was accepted as a member of the European Society for Urological Oncology and Endocrinology (ESUOE) in 1994. He was accepted as an active member of the Society for Basic Urologic Research in 1996 and a corresponding member of the American Urologic Association in 1997. In July-October 1999, he studied microsurgery and molecular biology as a visiting and fellow at The American Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine Department of Urology. In April 2000, he was accepted as a member of The Society for the Study of Male Reproduction and the European Society for Urologic Research. In 2003, he became a founding (board) member of the American Mediterranean Association of Male Reproduction.
Also in Athens Oncology Hospital, Greece in 2008. He performed and had Laparoscopic Surranelectomy surgery, a first in the history of Turkey.
He presented State of Art Lecture at the 2010 World Video Urology Congress in Marsa Alam, Egypt. He is still working as the Secretary General of the Turkish Urology Board.
In May 2010, he performed live surgery at the urology congress in Pristina, Kosovo. This surgery was presented to the audience via satellite.
