Prof. Dr. Teoman Kilic

Teoman Kilic (Professor, MD) was graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 1998. He completed his specialty  in cardiology at Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine. In 2006; he participated in the observer- ship project of Partners  International Program of Harvard University and studied in the cardiac catheterization laboratories of Brigham and Women’s  hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. During this period, he participated in the “Impact of time of presentation on the  care and outcomes of acute myocardial infarction” project of AHA Get with the Guidelines Steering Committee and  investigators. In 2011; he participated in the observership and training programme of percutenous interventions on structural  heart disease and studied in the cardiac catheterization laboratory of Cardiovascular center, Skt Katharinan Hospital,  Frankfurt, Germany and in the cardiac catheterization laboratory of Johannes Guetenberg university, Mainz, Germany. Since  2013, he has been the Director of Structural Heart Interventions in the Catheterization Laboratory at the Kocaeli University,  one of the busiest and most important reference centers of Turkey for structural heart interventions such as, left atrial  appandage closure, paravalvular leak closure and transcatheter aortic valve implantations in Turkey. He has trained and/or  proctored several doctors in Turkey, Kazakhstan, Dubai and Azerbaijan, mainly on the use of occlusion devices, mitral  balloon valvuloplasty and transcatheter aortic valve implantation. His major area of interest is in the development of  techniques and catheters/devices to help treat or cure adult congenital and structural cardiac diseases without open-heart  surgery. He has published over 40 papers in Turkish Medical Journals and over 40 papers in International Journals. In 2018,  he published an article describing a “New Pulmonary Valvuloplasty Technique by Use of an Hourglass-Shaped Balloon in  adult patients with pulmonary stenosis”. He also published two important articles about antegrade and retrograde closure of  mitral paravalvular leaks without creating of an arteriovenous wire loop. Dr Kilic performed the first LAMPOON procedure  in Turkey, first “tip-to-base” LAMPOON procedure outside the US and first LAMPOON case before transcatheter Myval™  replacement in mitral position. He has been the national coordinator of the AFR Prophet Study in Turkey and one of the  coordinator centers of AFR Prelieve study and one of the main centers of European Paravalvular Leak Closure study. He is  the member of Turkish Society of Cardiology, European Society of Cardiology (ESC), Working Group on European  Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions (EAPCI) of the ESC and American Heart Association . In the last  6 years, he has participated in the all organizations of Turkish Society of Interventional Cardiology meetings in Turkey and at  the moment, he is the next president (President-elect) of Turkish Society of Cardiology Association of Percutaenous Cardiovascular Interventions (TSC-TAPCI).

LAA CLOSURE Training

The LAA Closure training program is designed to equip cardiologists with the knowledge, skills, and techniques to excel in interventional cardiology. It is tailored to cardiologists' needs and offers a seamless learning experience. The program covers topics such as patient selection, device selection, procedural techniques, and potential complications. Participants will observe live LAA closure cases and gain practical experience in deploying devices. The training session includes introductions, introductions, and discussions on LAA closure, preventing stroke, current indications, and complications.
