Prof. Dr. Peter Andreka

Prof. Dr. Peter Andreka graduated from Semmelweis Medical School in 1993 and began their career at the 2nd Department of Internal Medicine at the same institution. Following board certification in internal medicine, they pursued cardiology research and training at the University of Miami in the United States. In 2002, they achieved board certification in cardiology and earned their PhD.


In 2006, Prof. Dr. Peter Andreka joined the Gottsegen National Cardiovascular Center, where they were appointed Chief of the Department of Adult Cardiology. As an interventional cardiologist, they led pioneering efforts in structural interventional cardiology, performing several procedures for the first time in Hungary alongside their team. In 2008, they obtained additional board certification in anesthesiology and intensive care.


In 2012, Prof. Dr. Peter Andreka served as a visiting professor at the University of Aberdeen, teaching interventional cardiology for six months. By December 2015, they were appointed Vice Medical Director of the Gottsegen National Cardiovascular Center, and in 2017, they ascended to the role of General Director.


Their leadership extended beyond the institution, with their appointment as Chief of the Cardiology Section of the Hungarian Professional Medical Council in 2019 and Chief of the Hungarian Professional Medical Council in 2023. In 2022, they became a Professor of Cardiology at the University of Pécs.


During their tenure,Prof. Dr. Peter Andreka has championed national and international medical research and education. Under their guidance, the Gottsegen National Cardiovascular Center has established multiple PhD and clinical fellowship programs, attracting both national and international students. Their team consistently publishes groundbreaking research in leading international peer-reviewed journals.


Prof. Dr. Peter Andreka is dedicated to ensuring that the Gottsegen National Cardiovascular Center achieves global recognition in the field of cardiovascular medicine.
