EDUCATION
Prof. dr. Özgür Kılıçkesmez completed his university education at Istanbul University in 1997. He completed his Radiology residency training at Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 2001 at Istanbul Training and Research Hospital. He completed his long-term military service at Diyarbakır Military Hospital.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
He worked in the MR departments of Kartal and Bakırköy EA Hospitals. He was appointed as Assistant Professor to the Department of Neuroradiology at the Faculty of Medicine Hospital, Department of Radiology, and received the title of Associate Professor in 2011. He was entitled to receive the Turkish Radiology Proficiency certificate in 2012, the Turkish Interventional Radiology Proficiency certificate and Stroke (stroke) treatment certification in 2015, and the European interventional radiology board (EBIR) in 2019. Cerrahpasa T.F. He received neuroangiography training for 6 months in 2010 in the Department of Neuroradiology. In 2012-2013, he worked as an Honorary clinical observer at the interventional radiology departments of Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals in London for 3 months, and then as a clinical fellow for 6 months on advanced peripheral and interventional oncology at the interventional radiology department of King's College Hospital. He was appointed as a teaching assistant to the Radiology Department of the Istanbul Training and Research Hospital in April 2013, and continued to work until 2020, during this period, the Radiology Clinic became one of the first hospitals to receive accreditation in Turkey. As of May 21, 2020, he started to work as the founder of SBU Istanbul Çam and Sakura City Hospital Radiology and Interventional Neuroradiology / Interventional Radiology.
MEMBERSHIPS
He is a member in the Turkish Medical Association, Turkish Radiology Association, Turkish Society of Interventional Radiology, Turkish Neuroradiology Society, Radiological Society of North America, European Society of Radiology, CIRSE and in the ESNR.
ACHIEVEMENTS
In his academic history, he received the Siemens Radiology first prize in 2008, the most cited article in two international journals in 2009 and 2010, and was selected as one of the best referees of the American Journal of Roentgenology in 2010 and of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology between 2014-2019.
He is a member of the Editorial Board of an International Journal of Radiology and a critic in 8 journals. There are 62 international and 25 national printed articles, 28 online articles and nearly 100 congress and symposium presentations. These publications have been cited over 750 times.
