Born in Elazığ in 1962, he completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Elazığ. He graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1987. Between 1987 and 1989, he completed his mandatory service in Kastamonu İhsangazi. In 1989, he started his residency in Chest Diseases at Yedikule Chest Diseases and Thoracic Surgery Center. He became a specialist in Chest Diseases in 1994. Between June and December 1994, he worked as a Chest Diseases specialist at Elazığ State Hospital.

In 1995, he was appointed as Chief Resident at Yedikule Chest Diseases and Thoracic Surgery Center. He obtained the title of Associate Professor in Chest Diseases in 2005. He served as Deputy Chief of Clinic from 2005 to 2009 and as Chief of Clinic from 2008 onwards. In 2012, he was appointed as a Professor at Karabük University Faculty of Medicine. Between 2012 and 2017, he held the position of Head of the Department of Chest Diseases at Karabük University Faculty of Medicine, along with being an Instructor at Yedikule Chest Diseases and Thoracic Surgery Training and Research Hospital. In 2017, he was appointed as a Professor at Istanbul Health Sciences University Yedikule Chest Diseases and Thoracic Surgery Health Practice and Research Center. The same year, he took on the role of Head of the Department of Chest Diseases at Istanbul Health Sciences University Hamidiye Faculty of Medicine. On July 2, 2019, he was appointed as the Dean of Istanbul Health Sciences University Hamidiye Faculty of Medicine.

He has numerous scientific publications in the field of Chest Diseases in international and national peer-reviewed journals. His main areas of research are interventional pulmonology and interstitial lung diseases. He serves on the editorial and advisory boards of international and national peer-reviewed journals. He holds a National Patent for Airway Stents. He possesses numerous participation certificates and certificates in the field of Chest Diseases and has served as an educator in many courses.
