Dr. Gregor Leibundgut is a highly accomplished interventional cardiologist with extensive expertise in advanced cardiovascular diagnostics and interventions. He currently serves as the Head of the Catheterization Laboratory at Kantonsspital Liestal in Switzerland, where he specializes in complex interventional cardiology procedures.
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Dr. Leibundgut pursued his medical education at the University of Basel, earning his MD in 2001. Following his clinical training in general and orthopedic surgery, internal medicine, and cardiology, he completed multiple prestigious fellowships, including a research fellowship in vascular medicine at the University of California, San Diego, and an interventional cardiology fellowship at the University Heart Center Freiburg – Bad Krozingen in Germany.
Board-certified in both cardiology and internal medicine, Dr. Leibundgut has contributed extensively to the field through numerous peer-reviewed publications, focusing on innovative imaging techniques, coronary interventions, and vascular medicine. He is a recipient of several awards, including the Menarini Prize for Echocardiography and the Schulman Award for Cardiovascular Research, recognizing his groundbreaking work in three-dimensional echocardiography and cardiovascular research.
Dr. Leibundgut is fluent in German, English, and French, with additional proficiency in Italian, and is committed to advancing interventional cardiology practices globally through research, education, and clinical excellence.
