Assoc. Prof. Efsun Gonca Ugur Chousein was born in Antalya on June 9, 1974. She completed her primary, secondary, and high school education in the cities of Muğla, Bolu, and Adana, respectively. In 1998, she graduated from Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine. Between 1999 and 2005, she specialized in chest diseases at Süreyyapaşa Chest Diseases and Chest Surgery Training and Research Hospital and Bezm-i Alem Valide Sultan Foundation Gureba Hospitals. She worked as a chest diseases specialist at Isparta Yalvaç State Hospital in 2005-2006 and at Özel Bahçelievler Medicana Hospital between 2007 and 2014. Since 2014, she has been working in the field of interventional pulmonology at SBÜ Yedikule Chest Diseases and Chest Surgery Training and Research Hospital. She obtained the title of "associate professor" in 2022. She is currently the responsible physician of the Bronchology Unit at SBÜ Yedikule Chest Diseases and Chest Surgery Training and Research Hospital. Her main scientific studies are in the field of interventional pulmonology, with national and international studies in other areas of chest diseases. She is a member of the European Association for Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonology, European Respiratory Society, Lung Health and Intensive Care Association, Lung Cancer Society, American Thoracic Society, Sleep Society, Turkish Respiratory Research Association, and Turkish Thoracic Society.
